iOS 6 Passbook Cannot Connect to iTunes

Upgraded to iOS 6 today and wanted to play around with the new Passbook app but I ran into an issue with it connecting to iTunes. Pressing the App Store button in the Passbook app opened the store but it would just show a generic ‘cannot connect to iTunes’ error. The App Store on my phone was otherwise totally functional.

Here is a link to an Apple forum post with a fix for the issue. The problem in the forum post is for an iPad 2 having App Store issues but it worked for my Passbook/iPhone issue too.

iOS 6 Out Tomorrow

Backup your iOS devices tonight so you can slam the servers right at the 10am release like everyone else. My first gen iPad will be officially obsolete come tomorrow, it didn’t even get a pity update like the 3gs is getting.  I will do the right thing tomorrow morning and put it down, I don’t want to see it suffer.

Writing Huts

Seen a very cool link about writing huts when I was reading this article by Justin Jackson. It has inspired me to do something similar, I am currently typing in my own writing hut. I have made my particular hut out of couch couchions, some pillows, and a few towels I laundered earlier today. Could not think of a better way to spend my Sunday.

Bigger Screens Show More Stuff: Deep Thoughts From Farhad Manjoo

Pretty sure I have hated just about every article I have stumbled across from Farhad Manjoo and his post on Slate from Wednesday was no exception.

He takes issue with Apple calling the iPhone 5 the “best iPhone ever” which makes me question if Farhad has ever seen any company release a successor to an existing product ever. Of course a company calls the new version of a product the best ever. If it’s not an improvement over the previous generation, why would they bother making it and hold a press conference to talk about it? Even if all they did was a spec bump to the 4S it would be considered the best iPhone ever.

He then has a problem with them replacing the 30-pin connector and the “endless hassles” this will cause for users. The dock connecter came out in 2003, how long do you want it to stay around? Not to mention the new dock connect takes up 80% less space in the phone, that is huge in a space so small.

Well I’m done ranting, think I have learned my lesson and will make sure to check the author before I read an article on Slate to prevent Manjoo induced rage.
